It is with a truly sad heart that we have to convey the passing of our father, Ray Wood MBE & Legion d’honneur. He slipped away peacefully and without pain on July 13th 2020.
Yet it is with a glad heart that we hold wonderful memories of a very kind man who touched everybody with his positivity and gentleness. He was always Happy!
A family only funeral will be held on Wednesday July 29th.

Because of his infectious friendship and inspiring love, a celebratory memorial service will be held at St. Mary Magdalen church, Knighton, once restrictions allow.

Ray will always be a hero to me. I met him while volunteering at Menphys, listened and learned from him. He wrote a reference for me for my first permanent job. I told his story of his experiences in WW2 to teenaged history students for twenty years. A lovely man. A wonderful man. A man who changed so many lives. He made the world a better place.
It was a real privilege and pleasure to have known Ray, the happiest person we ever met - and this was infectious ! Sybil & I will both always remember our pilgrimages to Lourdes and what happy times they were. He was a marvellous companion and fellow pilgrim and will be missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him
Ray, you will forever be missed, we will treasure the memories we shared with you.
