In loving memory of Patrick Michael Fortune who sadly passed away on 9th July 2020 aged 74 years.

Pat was the first born son of Edgar and Eileen Fortune and the elder brother of Tom, Gerry, Cameron and Gay. Sadly Edgar, Eileen and Cameron have since passed away.

Pat was born in Guildford, Surrey in 1946.

Pat joined the Royal Airforce as an Aircraft Engineer at 17 years of age.

During 1965 Pat met Monique Green.

In 1968 Pat & Monique got married and then went on to have two children; Stuart and Cameron.

Pat enjoyed many overseas tours with the RAF, the family were stationed in Germany on several occasions with their final overseas posting being almost four years in Hong Kong. Pat’s final posting was at RAF Waddington on the Sentry Line Flight where he made many friends with whom he remained in contact with following his retirement in 2001.

Pat enjoyed social and family gatherings, he was very much at home tending to a BBQ whilst nursing a beer or two. He was a music lover and enjoyed holidays abroad with Monique.

Pat liked going on walks with Monique and family, often holidaying with his Siblings. He liked to relax with a Gin & Tonic whilst watching old television episodes.

Pat was a loving husband, brother, father and grandfather (he preferred to be called Paps) - he was taken unexpectedly from us all and will be dearly missed.

So sorry to hear about Pat's passing. My condolences to all his family. I didn't know Pat but he was a 3rd (also a 5th) cousin of mine. I came across him while doing family tree.

I am so very shocked and saddened by the loss of my Uncle Pat. it’s been a fair few years since I was able to see him and the rest of my family face to face but thanks to Facebook and FaceTime they have always seemed that bit nearer. But you can never know the last time you will see someone. Words cannot express the sadness I feel for the loss to our extended family.
The last act of kindness and selflessness you And Aunty Monique gave my mum in the last 4 months will never be forgotten. I was so touched by your brotherly love and care and selfishly you gave me great peace of mind.
I have lots of wonderful memories of holidays, family party’s and get togethers, our family always knew how to party!! I will miss you very much but our love will always be with you. Be at peace. Lots of love always Tor, Robert, Ophelia and Joseph xxx

Shell shocked, devastated, so very sad and lost for words at the loss of my beloved brother Pat!! He was the best big brother a girl could have. l always felt so loved, protected and important. So many happy memories of times spent together, a shared love of folk music and attending the Wadebridge Folk Festival in Cornwall for so many years.

He always looked out for me and included me in so many of his and Monique’s holidays, in Portugal, Grand Canaria, France, Devon and The Lake District, such great times full of laughter and fun!!

Pat, l cannot imagine life without you, taken so suddenly and much too soon, rest in peace my dear brother, know you will be in my memories forever and that Monique will be well looked after.

All my love,
Gerry

Colin & Jenny Childs donated £50 in memory of Patrick

Your passing comes as such a shock
No warning to prepare
The gap you leave is cavernous
We wish you were still there.

But we have shared great memories
A friendship that we treasure
Just knowing you and being your friend
Has really been a pleasure.

Great barbecues and beer calls
Now a moment of reflection
Detachments getting lost at night
Our shared sense of direction!

Those memories we'll keep alive
We promise to remember
The great times that we shared with Pat
Each summer and December.

So now you're up there in the sky
Your barbecue's alight
I hear they've got no gas up there
It’s charcoal. I was right!

We will miss you so much Pat. Love from Colin & Jenny

My Brother Pat was taken from us so quickly at only 74 years of age. We have many happy family memories and we will cherish those always. I am never lost for words but I can't find the right words to say how much I love you and miss you.
You will always remain alive in our memories and in our hearts.

To take someone from us so suddenly is not fair.
To have known Pat for nearly 60 years has been an enormous pleasure with a lasting friendship. Although we hadn't seen each other for a few years we were always there for each other.
It all began with our training in the RAF and continued throughout our careers. Even in our retirement it continued with holidays, especially in Cyprus. Pat was our Pathfinder (Monique will know what is meant).
Although we won't be able to make the funeral you will be in our thoughts.
Rest in Peace my Friend. We'll meet again one day.
So & Roy Drew
P.S. Well miss your curries.
