So sorry to hear about the loss of Joe. He was one of the best, a true Gentleman. I hold fond memories of our dining room chats at Sandhills. He'll be sadly missed. Condolences to all the family. Jill Collins

  • .. a very nice picture, Colin. Joe was a good man with much talent. I remember his performance with South Shields G&S Society, in 1972 / 3. The society' production that year was my favorite one: THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE! It was fitting and encouraging to go see the production in the theater at the then Marine and Technical College in south Shields. If I'm not mistaken, Joe took the part of Pirate King in that production of PIRATES .... . I can still here is voice in that production! Your mum Rhoda encouraged me and another fellow pupil, in our Music, while I was a pupil at Mortimer Secondary: and she would give us tickets to this and that. .. had us playing the piano accompanying the two hymns in morning Assemblies (EVERY morning first thing: assemblies, then, included two hymns!). I am, and will be, eternally grateful to and for her. I will always remember Rhoda and Joe. Thank you, Colin, for the Christmas Card you sent me in 2019. In 2020 I relocated to a village 2 miles out from Pickering (Thornton-le-Dale). Do please drop me a line: my email address is chriswelch@talktalk.net It would be good to hear from you. ... best wishes to you all. Chris
