In loving memory of Albert John Wright who sadly passed away on 16th May 2020

Albert John Wright was born 11th February 1930 in Stebbing Essex , the youngest of 7 children,
John sometimes known as Alb worked for his brother in the family grocers Cloughtons in Braintree and he was often reminded of how he burnt the beetroot, he looked after 60 rabbits and had fond memories of his family home in Stebbing and the Americans at Andrewsfield.
He joined the RAF as an electrician, but having been found to be colour blind, he trained to be a carpenter, and completed national service and served in Egypt during the Suez crisis.
Returning to the Braintree area he met Diane and married in 1964, moving into the family home in High Garrett.
John and Diane had two children Hazel and Stephen, and 4 grandchildren Thomas, Sophie, Charlotte and Frank of whom he was very proud.
John worked in the building trade as a carpenter, building many homes in the Braintree area. In later years John worked for Everest double glazing, selling windows and conservatories to his many customers.
John loved every form of sport, playing cricket for the local team in Stebbing, many summer evenings were spent watching matches and enjoying cricket teas.
John played football, table tennis, snooker, and loved a day out at Newmarket horse races with his brothers. Walthamstow dog racing was another favourite venue. John belonged to Gosfield golf club and enjoyed playing in matches and golf tournaments. John and Diane went on golf tours to many different courses.
Retirement allowed John to spend his leisure time in his beloved garden. He enjoyed growing his own plants and tending his garden was a real passion, his garden was his pride and joy, he loved sharing his produce among family and friends, his apprentice gardeners are now trying to keep the garden ship shape and as he would like it, we can hear his words ringing in our ears that we are a bit slap dash!
John loved travelling with Diane and the family who have such fond memories of holidays, skiing, cruising and travelling the U.K. and Europe in the family caravan. Family dinners often ended with card games, crib and poker being his favourites, John was very competitive and loved to win a pound off any one who would take him on at his favourite card games.
John had a full and colourful life enjoying music, especially jazz, and Glenn Miller music, outdoor picnics listening to music, dancing, as soon as the music started John would take Diane to the front of the dance floor and dance the night away.
We love and will miss you John, husband, dad and grandad.
