David Bull donated £20 in memory of Maurice

Only just found out about this when searching for a photo of Maurice for a Facebook piece on football heroes. Maurice was a friend of my Mum's - Grace Bull nee Holden and my Uncle Tom Holden - and I watched him from the terraces as a ten year old and was proud to boast I knew him. Even prouder in later years to have shared a beer with him, Jack Stamps and Dave MacAdam, both Albion legends themselves and the latter being my then Girlfriend Sue's Dad. I also knew Ken Pallett from the same team who was my good Buddy Nick's Dad. I feel blessed to have known them and to have watched them play when past their prime but still loving every minute of every game and giving it their all. My sincere condolences to all for your loss of a lovely man and my first sporting hero.

  • Thank you for your lovely memories of my wonderful Maurice I was married to him for sixty six years and never ever heard him say an unkind word about anybody- he always had a smile on his face. We had a wonderful marriage and enjoyed sporting careers. He loved teaching kids to swim Trevor our nephew tells me Maurice took him to the baths - asked him if he could swim- answered NO- was thrown in- Maurice smiling and said YOU CAN NOW. Happy memories Pat
