In loving memory of John Harpum who sadly passed away on 1st May 2020. Unfortunately due to Covid 19 we cannot have the funeral that he deserves. Hopefully once the lockdown is finished we will have a celebration of his life.

I cannot thank everyone enough for all the beautiful cards and flowers. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. He was my rock and my best friend.

We.ll miss your rubbish jokes and us joking about your terrible driving your scooter. Eva remembers you showing her the baby foxes in the garden and the wee elf who visited at Christmas.

Sleep tight John xx

What can i say about four eyes , The man who gave me the long established family nickname of Spikey. I must admit now, i think i hated it at first. He had all the other kids and John and Steph and even June calling me by it in the street.. After a while i built up the confidence to try and wind him up with his pet name.. But he didnt care, He laughed it off and was never letting a wee guy like me noise him up. I was lucky I had a friend in him , In our younger days when he gave you his attention it was full and he helped you with anything that he could assist in. At a young age of 16 , He asked me if i would like to go away and work with him for a week. We were fitting batteries into onshore lighthouses throughout the Outer Hebrides, isle of Lewis , Harris - North and South Uist.. Best ever and only way I seen a beautiful part of the country. There was one little light sitting about a quarter of a mile from shore. He said. We are going to that. I thought oh shit. I cant swim.. when he seen the look in my eyes. He let me load up this wee rowing boat with a motor on it. With this quota of batteries. Before i said. I cant do this. He said with a giggle , i will do this myself. I thought Thank the lord for that. His words. I thought you were shitting yourself. Back in the day we also worked with him in Faslane , hauling heavy electrical cables around the hillside of the navy base. He had a laugh at this also , as when we were travelling home , falling asleep in his car , knackered !!! Boom you would here him banging the dashboard of the car with the word BANG at the same time. He was laughing with all the shocked faces. I was like WTF... lol I thank him for these memorable days and will never ever forget him. Goodnight Four Eyes , your wee pal Spikey....

I wish I never had to write this especially for someone as special as my brother in law John. A very special person who shared so much with us all and not just his silly jokes he will always remain in my heart and in my mind. I do miss him so much.

Alan and I will never forget John. Model Flying has been as big a part of our lives as "Four Eyes" was. I know he would laugh at us calling him that, even now. Rest In Peace John and fly high and watch over us xx
