In loving memory of Ian Thornewill who sadly passed away on 23rd April 2020, aged 67 years.
Beloved husband of Dulcie, he will be sadly missed by all family and friends.

Ian was born in Mansfield in 1952, he attended Carter Lane and Brunt’s Grammar schools, before joining the National Coal Board in the Scientific Department. Dulcie and Ian married in 1976 and they moved to Stretton due to relocation of their jobs in 1989. They were married for over 44 happy years and enjoyed travelling the world together.

Sadly soon after retirement Ian started to show symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease and unfortunately recently contracted Coronavirus.

Rest in peace Ian.

Myra Ray donated £20 in memory of Ian

Very fond memories of cousin Ian. After Sunday tea at Auntie Doreen and Uncle Norman’s listening to Pick of the Pops for the new Number One. Fondest memory being so proud and feeling so grown up when Ian took me out on his brand new scooter. He was very kind and patient with his clearly annoying young cousin. Happy memories of him and Dulcie meeting at Queggs and Brunt’s schools. RIP

Ian was my cousin and I have many happy memories of spending time together with David, Aunty Doreen & Uncle Norman.
I was very happy to have been a bridesmaid at Ian and Dulcie’s wedding, and I will remember Ian with fondness.

We first met Ian and Dulcie in November 2006 on a holiday to Kerala in India and became good friends. Always remember Ian trying to buy tonic water to go with his gin, but they would only then ask what was wrong with him. Got some in the end. Always wonderful hospitality and great walks on our stays with them. Rest in peace Ian. Love Mary and Robin.
