Doris was the loving wife of the late Robert Lamb and mother to David, Kevin and Pauline.

Born Doris Clayton in 1926, after leaving school at the age of 14 Mom worked in the offices of a local builder, Johnson's in Small Heath Birmingham, and continued to work there until she started a family.

On May 24th 1952 she married her beloved husband Robert (Bob) Lamb; the beginning of a loving and caring partnership that would last for 49 years until Bob sadly died in 2001. In 1959 the family, including Nan (Mom's mother Caroline), moved to a new house in Norgrave Road, Solihull and she devoted herself to building a loving and fun family home.

In later years, having supported us through the school years, she returned to work as a clerk at the British Gas offices in Solihull where she worked until her retirement.

By now the family was growing and 'Nannie Blue' was adored by her many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Having cared for herself in the family home until she was 91, the years caught up and she moved into St Bernards Residential Home where she was looked after with loving care until she died peacefully on 14th April 2020. The family thank all the staff at St Bernards for Mom's care at this difficult time, she will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

Due to the requirement for social distancing we are unable to hold the usual funeral service so we will be holding a celebration of moms life as soon as we are able.

Doris and Bob were the loveliest neighbours anyone could wish for. In this photo, Doris cradles Jonathan, our son, 31 years ago. Night night, Doris and God Bless.

Jacky Timms donated £30 in memory of Doris

I have so many happy memories of Auntie Doris. She was like a second Mum to me as Jenny and I used to spend most of our school holidays with Doris, David, Kevin and Pauline and of course lovely Uncle Bob. And who could forget Boxing Day at Doris and Bob's and the fun and games that went on then! Such a lovely, caring lady who will be sadly missed. All my love and condolences to Dave, Kev and Pauline and your families.

Christine Gormley donated £20 in memory of Doris

I'm very pleased to donate towards Cancer Research UK in memory of my Auntie Dot, who held the best family parties every Christmas, always remembered birthdays and was the guardian of the Clayton family history. If it had happened, she knew about it, and was always delighted to share her memories. Looking forward to a big celebration of her life soon! Love and condolences to Dave, Kev and Pauline xxx
