In loving memory of Joyce May Whitehouse who sadly passed away on 16th April 2020, aged 93.
Joyce was married to Fred Whitehouse for 48 years before being widowed and was Mother to Roger, Grand Mother to Debbie and Laura, and Great Grand Mother to Zoe, Lea and Alfie.
Born in Birmingham and living in Acocks Green and Solihull all of her life, Joyce worked as a Comptometer Operator firstly for Brooke Tools in the 50's and 60's before working for West Midlands Gas until retirement.
In retirement Joyce found a love of Bowls, both flat and crown green, and enjoyed many years of social and competition activity with her fellow members of the Tally Ho and Stadium clubs,, including joining them on their summer Bowls tours.
Her love of Bowls only came second to one thing, her love and pride in watching her extended family grow up.

Living next door to Joyce (and Fred) for many years was a pleasure. Always a story to tell and a natter over the garden fence. Well more of a marathon than a natter because dear Joyce could talk and talk and talk . We loved her for it. Her warmth and openness was such a welcome when we first moved in many years ago. In later years I recall her still off down the road to see her sister and putting others first. She loved her bowling and kept fit by marching down the road at a gallop rather than a walk. It was sad to see her get frail however we will remember those good memories of a strong person with dancing eyes and an air of mischief about her.

I have so many memories of Mom from her lifetime where she would do pretty well anything for the happiness of the family.
So once this Covid-19 lock down is all over when it's OK to travel and everyones lives are getting back to normal,we will try and arrange a meeting of the family to celebrate her life.

Sadly, as we are in the midst of the lock down for the Covid-19 pandemic it means that many of the family are not able to travel, especially those living abroad, so Moms funeral will be unattended at the Bretsby Crematorium on 7th May 2020.
As we will not be attending the funeral it is requested that, instead of flowers, we donate to NHS Charities Together that distributes its funds to the combined local charities that support the hard working NHS teams who are so valued, especially at this time.
