Grandad,

What can I say that hasn't already been said you were a true gentleman in every sense of the word. I have so many fond memories of you growing up from childhood to the man I have become today, I hope I grow to be half the man you was. Sleep tight grandad until we meet again. GBNF ❤

Saddened to hear of the untimely passing of Uncle John. Sorry we cannot be there for the funeral due to travel restrictions, but we will be there in spirit. However we will mark his life and passing in our own way on 5th May here in Terenure, Dublin.

Dear Father,
Although we knew this day would come,
Indeed it happens to everyone,
How does one cope or prepare for this pain and emptiness inside?

We think of all the good times, your generosity, your easy going nature,
Mom would say ‘if your dad was stuck on a desert island he would bump into someone he knew’
He made friends easily, that was true.

We would talk about football, politics, gardening, all with passion,
He would give advice and encouragement,
We will never hear his voice again, or hear him laugh, but we have our memories, they shall never be taken away,

He was a kind and compassionate man,
A good friend,
A proud grandfather
An adoring husband,
A dear father

Eamon x

Grandad,

It’s so hard to encapsulate a life in so few words, particularly one as rich and varied, and liberally sprinkled with happiness as yours.

Someone as well-known and popular as you will always mean a multitude of different things to any number of people, but there’s a common theme in each of their affections and memories: a kind and generous spirit; the life and soul of any room you walked into, always ready with a wry joke in a timeless Dublin burr; a twinkle in your eye and a shock of white hair.

To me, you’ll always be morning chats in the kitchen or around the pond at Rawlins, walks along the canal, and the back of the Vale (only occassionally getting trapped behind ice drifts - terrifying to a five year old’s eyes!)

Later, deep discussions about politics or football, and cheeky whiskeys on the mornings of big Villa games - you always knew they’d be needed!

In everything you did, you were good-natured, enthusiastic, and kind. You were always there to listen, always there to support, and nothing was ever too much trouble. I hope you knew how much that meant.

Love always,

Sean
