In loving memory of Arthur Harvey who sadly passed away on 2nd March 2020

Sheila was not expecting to write this letter to inform you of Arthur’s death just yet! Last September he was in hospital for 10 days and when he came out he came to stay with Philip and myself, “just for a week while I have a number of hospital appointments and I build my strength up”; well Sheila and Philip were delighted to say he stayed on and enjoyed the last 6 months living with us. We did everything to make him feel at home, he had furnishings around him from his home and was truly amazed at how many things we moved to give his own home comforts.
At the turn of the year we discussed what should happen to his house and we agreed renting it out was best. Philip and Sheila have almost completed the task and a tenant moves in shortly. With all the plans in place to preserve the home he loved so much, we weren’t expecting what came next.
Last Saturday 29th February, we left him all day, this isn’t unusual, so he cooked his lunch, washed up and made himself cups of tea too, he was delighted to hear about our day and especially as Fulham had beaten Preston North End 2-0, spirits were high.
After lunch on Sunday 1st March, he declined coming to his Great Granddaughters 3rd birthday party and stayed home alone; Oh dear he says “I had too many things in my hand” he fell on the floor and then showing his stubbornness and determination he moved his battered self around the lounge floor to try and stand up but didn’t make it. This is where we found him and once the Paramedics assessed him we were on our way to Frimley Park Hospital, the doctors were very helpful and thorough where he was admitted for observation. Unfortunately his heart was very enlarged and was compromising the lung and hence he was finding it hard to breath, he took his last breath around 4.15 on Monday 2nd March 2020.
Although we were all with him during the day it has definitely come as a great shock to us all. Arthur was delighted to make it into 2020 so people could see he was in his 100th year; more impressed to see Brexit come about and for our country to become great once more!

Now, the important details, the family would be very pleased if you would join them on

Philip Ashton donated £50 in memory of Arthur

Arthur, you were a very special person, and I consider you to be a good friend also. We had many happy times together whether at home or abroad, when Sheila and I were able to take to various places. We ate, drank and celebrated together well.
Always and forever in my heart; rest in peace.
Philip.
