A huge thank you to all who managed to be at Robin's funeral. It was very good send-off from around 120 of his family, friends and ex colleagues. Thank you also to all who have donated to the charity to which I was able to add another £170.00 today from donations on the 23rd. Bless you!
Affectionately, Peter. xxxx

Over 30 years we have many memories of dinner parties, eating cheese and enjoying cooking with Robin. We are grateful to Robin for being Joanna's Godfather as well as both Peter and Robin's love and support for Victoria through our daughters' journey of life. A Greek holiday sparks memories where canapés and trays caused so much hilarity for us all. I am sure you will still be playing your favourite song - you had so many and we can only finish by asking "What are Trumps"?!!

I first met Robin in 1960 at Hampton (then Grammar) School when we were 11 years old - and he introduced me to classical music with Sibelius 2nd symphony, for which I am perpetually grateful. I remember Germaine's (his French mother's) greenhouse was named "Jardin des Plantes" - sowing a seed for his future love of plants and gardening. The display of Salvias in the garden at Bagshot was always spectacular, due to the hours laboured, esp in a dry summer with such a rapidly draining soil. What an achievement to have been featured on BBC TV's Gardener's World and in the BBC Magazine and the most recently in Country Life! - a well merited memorial. We are privileged to have several Salvias that Robin had propagated as a personal memorial in our own garden. He was also a bon viveur who enjoyed fine dining, introducing us to a number of restaurants in the south east - most memorably Gravetye Manor. We shall be thinking of you and Peter when we go there in March to celebrate Judy's birthday.
He will be missed by so many people across the world. Our very best wishes to Peter and to his brother Roger and sister-in-law Francoise.

So sorry to hear of Robin's illnesss and death. Our memories of him go back to school and youth club days but have only had email and web contact since. It saddens us to lose a real gentleman who added to the knowledge base of gardeners at every opportunity. He will be missed by many. Our condolences to Peter and those close to him.
