Iris Doreen Corunna Clark (formerly Poole) of Rainham passed away peacefully on the 13th. December, 2019 in Hereford.

Loving mother of Patricia and Robert, devoted grandmother of Emma, James and Alexander and great-grandmother to Bradley, Eleanor and Melissa. Iris was born in Egypt, as her father’s regiment The 15th/19th King's Royal Hussars, was en-route to India. She spent the early part of her life in India, only returning to England in her teens. Iris was a Wren in the WWII and met her future husband who was in the RAF.

Loving and devoted wife to Wally, they were married for 52 years.

Iris, above all else lived for her family; she was well respected, by all, for her home-making skills, especially her traditional cooking. She taught adult classes in flower arranging for many years. She also worked in the Survey/ Polling sector, well into her 80’s, and was admired by her colleagues for her determination and ability to persuade the public to participate.

The funeral will be held at St. Peters, Bredhurst on 13 January 2020 at 11:00. All are welcome.

My husband, children and myself all refer to Iris as “Granny Iris”. Having known her for 30+ years, she definitely fulfilled the role! This isn’t the only important role she played in our lives. On our wedding day in 2007, she became our honorary 4th bridesmaid; voluntarily carrying the long train of my dress. This is something we have often spoken about since, as it was remembered with such happiness by us all. Granny Iris loved my children and they always delighted in her visits, sitting next to her for a story or a cuddle. Iris was an English Rose; beautiful, intelligent and strong. We all miss her and are so thankful for the part she played in our lives xxx
