In loving memory of Eric Harrison who sadly passed away on 8th October 2019
Eric was born on 17 September, 1927 to Lavinia and William Harrison, in Talke-Pitts in Stoke-on-Trent.
He attended Wolstanton Grammar School and was top in all his classes, except for in woodwork.
He left because he had a disagreement about wearing his school cap- always stubborn- and got a job at Cooks (Thomas Cook)in Hanley, as they closed on Saturday afternoons and therefore he could see his beloved Stoke City play!
He was in the RAF legal section for his national service, stationed in Ceylon for 2 and a half years.
He married the girl next door Hilda in 1953 on a Thursday, so that he could see Stoke City play on the Saturday! His very dear younger sister Vivian lived with them for 10 years when their mother Lavinia died.
They had two children, Donna in 1962 and Jonathan in 1967. Hilda died in 2009 and he has missed her ever since.
He moved to Keighley in 1968 and was manager of Keighley branch of Thomas Cook until retirement. He served Thomas Cook for 46 years. He also attended the Rotary Club of Keighley for over 45 years and gained the Paul Harris Award for service.
He attended All Saints Church, Keighley and he moved to Cowling in 2006 where he attended Holy Trinity Church and st Andrew's Methodist Church where he received a warm welcome when he couldn't get to Holy Trinity.
God be with you.
