I painted this self-portrait soon after I turned 70 and called it the ‘Autumn of my Years’; looks like Winter has caught up with me now !
Please don’t grieve for me, I have had a good life. I have been with Jan for nearly 60 years, and we have lived, loved and laughed our way through those years, and I have adored her for every minute. I have 3 wonderful children and 5 amazing grandchildren, all of whom have been a joy. I have many friends, some lifelong, I have been many places, seen lots of things, and done many things, and tried to help out along the way where I could. I like to think I had a good sense of humour, if a bad sense of colour.
It just remains for me to wish you all goodbye and urge you to enjoy life, it’s well worth the effort.
