In lieu of flowers, we are requesting any donations you wish to make to be made to St Christopher's Hospice, who were so helpful and kind over the last few months, or to Epilepsy Research UK, a charity close to Brian's heart and his professional life's work. I was so sorry to hear of Brian's death. He launched my scientific career and fostered my lasting interest in neuroscience, for which I am so very grateful. My very best wishes to his dear family.

Dear Astrid & Hannah,
There is so little that Tom & I can do from afar, but we can at least support the work of St. Christopher's and its staff who were there to help you & Brian in his last days.
We send our love,
Mary Kay & Tom

Brian,
You were a true giant in epilepsy research, and your discoveries changed forever the face of epilepsy and the face of medicine. It is thanks to you that the medical profession finally realized how seizures damage the brain, and how to protect it. Our meetings will miss your insights and your wit, and most of all I will miss your friendship. Congratulations on a life well-lived, your legacy lives on.
Claude Wasterlain
