I had a great pleasure to support and provide complete engineering design services to Sir Mike Uren on his new slag plant endeavors here in Cape Canaveral, Florida. That was when he expanded his operations in the USA. He was a very knowledgeable client, philanthropist, kind and very smart fellow engineer. To say the least, I learned a lot from him during the period I worked with him. He will be missed.

My wife and I met Sit Michael and Janis by chance in the Vine Inn sometime ago.
I found that we had a mutual interest in blast furnace slag! We had no idea who they were until I saw the obituary in the Telegraph but thought they were both charming.

The Partners and project team at Allies and Morrison would like to extend their sincere condolences on the passing of Sir Michael Uren. We were honoured to be selected as architects for the Sir Michael Uren Biomedical Engineering Research Hub at Imperial College. It is incredibly sad that he will not see this pioneering facility in operation - we hope the building and the work it enables will provide a fitting legacy for Sir Michael's generosity and vision.
