Eddie Houghton (8 Apr 1946 - 10 Aug 2019)

Eddie just a very gentle and kind man, you loved your family very much.

Dearest Ed. We just cannot believe that you are no longer with us. No more banter or awful jokes. You were just a wonderful kind and caring chap and we will both miss you terribly at our family get togethers and always. No more jokey comments about motorway cake which you never failed to have a slice of! We will not forget you Ed R.I.P. xxxx

Uncle Eddie was an incredible man, a family man, a genuine all round nice guy. A guy with an amazing sense of humour who always had time for everyone, will sorely be missed by all.

Dear Carole. I was so sorry to hear the news. I have some very happy memories of Eddie from my childhood and it was so lovely to see you both recently. Deepest condolences to you all and apologies but i will not be able to attend the funeral. Stay in touch. Much love. Eirlys

Eddie you were the best brother-in-law anyone could ask for. You were kind, considerate and thoughtful to others and especially us.
We had some great times together especially on the cruises we’ve been on.
Your jokes though had a lot to be desired but we still laughed at them. Our Sunday walks I will remember fondly, as you and I were the stragglers of the group, while everyone else just went marching on their merry way.
I also remember all the soap sud fights we had at Christmas everyone thought we were mad but hey ho we did have some fun (even though we ended up getting soaked).
Your love of trains was legendary but that was what you enjoyed.
But your greatest love was your wonderful family, especially Carol my little sister who you adored.
Until we meet again. God bless you’ll always be in our hearts and not a day goes by when your not in our thoughts.

In memory of my dear brother Ted

‘Everybody needs good neighbours’ and we certainly had one in Eddie. A great friend too and you’ll be sorely missed. Love from Derek & Judy (the young ones next door) xx

I remember Uncle Teds passion of trains and all the stories that Nan and mum used to share......especially his “elephant trunk” sandwiches.
You will be missed dearly by all your family but your love and memories will continue.

A dear brother who will be sadly missed by me and family. All of you who knew Ted know his passion for model trains! I remember as children we had been arguing and in a temper I threw one of his beloved trains down the stairs! Luckily enough it didn't kill the train and it went on to make lots of journey's on Ted's track!

Ted's first job was a " fire man" on the old steam trains. One bad winter when it had been snowing his job was to lay explosive caps every so many yards to alert people working on the line that trains were coming . Mum told us he came home wet and covered in coal dust but had a smile from ear to ear and very excited about his adventure's that day.

Ted, you leave a legacy of a wonderful family who love you immeasurable and are so proud to have you as an exceptional husband, father and grandfather.

With the grace of God, until we meet again dear brother may you rest in peace.

Dear Ted my brother who will be sadly missed by myself and family.
Teds enthusiasm for trains started at a very young age. One of the stories Mum related to me was regarding his numerous visit as a young child to Old Town station.This particular day he was dressed up smartly in a light coloured outfit and a steam train came into the station.Seeing how excited he was the fireman asked if he would like to come up on the footplate. Of course Mum couldn't refuse, he was over the moon. He was then lifted down onto the platform and his once lovely top was covered in coal dust!
Another story I will never forget and it still makes me laugh today. He worked shift work as a fireman and was on nights. One of my jobs was to go up to his room and ask what sandwiches he wanted for work. It was always hard to get an answer out of him. This day I said " Ted what sandwiches do you want for work.? His reply was ( he was half asleep ) " I'll have , I'll have......... . "Elephant trunk sandwiches"! Sorry Ted I could only get you ham!
Ted was always generous and whe he started work he gave me 2/- (10p ) for pocket money. I would save it to buy something nice.He also bribed me to go to the shops to get some cakes! This contributed to my membership to numerous slimming clubs to this day.
I am so pleased you had your last few weeks with your family at home among the ones who you loved. I am sad it could not have been longer.
Will miss you Ted.
