Browsing the internet I came across this really sad news, obviously some time after his passing, so I'm not sure if this will be seen. Reading all the memories from everyone who knew Chris just showed how well respected and loved he was, by both family and friends. I was at Hanson the same time as Chris and I remember him as a very intelligent person, who I knew would do well in whatever career path he chose, which he seemed to have done. At school he always had a smile on his face, was always cheerful and mixed with everyone. I met him again some years later when he was working in WHSmith and we had quick catch-up, he always had time for anyone. It's many years since I last saw Chris, but I always remembered him. Life passes so quickly, but memories stay forever...my thoughts are with his family.

  • Thank you so much for taking the time to send this message, it fills me with so much happiness to know that you still have such wonderful memories of our dad after all these years. It's lovely to hear how he was just as kind, thoughtful and friendly during his youth as he was when he raised my sisters and me, although it doesn't surprise me in the slightest! Thanks again for this message, it means a lot. Take care, Jessie (Chris' eldest)

Chris was indeed a lovely man: as a dad when we met him on the ballet runs etc and also when our paths crossed professionally. We are just so very sorry. Sending our very best to Julia , the girls and James. X

Chris had the biggest heart and the biggest smile. He will be remembered by our family as the kindest man who shared his humour, wit, charm and intelligence with all around him. He was the most wonderful dad and his wedding to Julia was one of the happiest days we have been privileged to a be a part of. Chris has been a true inspiration - he approached life with a combination of energy and dynamism yet at the same time a gentleness and generosity of spirit. Chris we will miss you, Ralph, Dympna, Caitlin, Esme & Patrick xxxxx

Chris you touched everyone who knew you and worked with you. You were stoic and determined in how you faced your illness and deserved to win at that, just as you did with everything else. Shine brightly up there! Marcia

Dearest JR (Mrs D), you have been incredible throughout all of this. I am so glad that you and Chris found such a deep love for each other and you were able to share so many happy times together (I still maintain your wedding was the happiest wedding I've been too!). Remember the good times. Remember too that that blue sky is always there, even on a cloudy day. Much love xxx

As both a colleague and friend, I cannot think of a more genuine, smarter, nicer or courageous person I have met. Chris had a peerless combination of razor sharp intellect matched to a great wit, sense of humour and charm. He was instantly likeable. He will be greatly missed by all who had the fortune of knowing him. Sincerest condolences to Julia and all the family.
