DAY Stuart Anthony
Passed away at home on the 18th January 2019, aged 69 years.
A dearly loved husband of Patricia, a much loved dad of Tina, Lesley, Julie, Helen and son in laws and a dear grandfather of Thomas, Abigail, Lauren. Billy, Katie and Jake.

A thousand times we needed you
A thousand times we cried
If love alone could have saved you
You never would have died

Steven Fletcher wrote

Stuart, I’ve thought long and hard about what to say but keep coming back to the same words THANK YOU.
Thank you for letting me into your family,
Thank you for the laughs and the memories,
Thank you for the advice and help, and most of all thank you for the most precious gift a father could give, your beautiful daughter Helen. I promise with all my heart I will love and care for her just as much as you have.

All my love Steven.

Now chuff off your making me cry.

Stuart
Thank you for supporting Rotherham United Whitehill Girls.
Grandparents are often our super supporters there through choice, not through duty. But Stuart went the extra mile for his beloved team by selling football cards at his local The Cavalier and turning up on a Saturday morning with a pocket full of cash for the girls team. Stuart often said he’d rather watch the girls than the professional men. He would never get my name right or the girls in the Canteen, he would complain about his cuppa in a paper cup ( I’m sure he wasn’t the only one (Pete)) and often complain about the price of a cuppa at away grounds or praise them for using actual mugs. We bought Stuart and Pete a mug Christmas 2017, he was so proud. At this time he was poorly and didn’t get to many games but waiting anxiously at home to hear how the girls got on. On behalf of the team I would just like to say a massive THANK YOU to Stuart for all his support.
Rest in Peace Stuart

T’owd Fatha-in-Law, after all these years I still know absolutely nothing about football or gardening but I can get to Skeggy and Mablethorpe with my eyes closed!! I’ll keep an eye out for you on the A631 with an old wheelie bin!! Loads of love, Paul (favourite son-in-law by a mile!!)

My hero never fought in a war
He never drove a big fancy car
He did not go very far in school
But he lived his life by the golden rule

He never had much money to spend
But he had the respect of all his friends
He was born and died in the same county
He never felt the need to search the world for bounty
He got up each morning at the break of dawn
Ate breakfast, packed his lunch and then he was gone

It takes a lot of work with a family to feed
A lot of devotion to meet their need
But he did it for years till his family was grown
Then he could retire and get to stay home

A time for rest but it didn't last long
He became sick and then he was gone
I guess I thought he would always be there
When I had a problem I needed to share
But when I am low and feeling sad
I still draw strength from my hero, my Dad.

RIP Stuart. You was an amazing family man who brought up 4 gorgeous daughters along with Pat and made a fantastic Grandad too. Everyone who met you has a good story to tell and a smile whilst telling it. You definitely made your imprint on many hearts and won’t be forgotten. All my love xxx
