In loving memory of Asta Aulikki Davey who sadly passed away on 28th November 2018.

Asta was born in Raahe in Finland and grew up in Kalajoki. She later moved north to Oulu where she trained as a nurse before heading for Helsinki and later on to Copenhagen. In Denmark she met Robin who she married and had a son, Henry. The three of them moved to the UK a year or two later.

Asta and Robin enjoyed a long marriage and supported each other through very good times and through adversity. Happy affluent days in suburban Bromley became slightly more testing times when illness, bankruptcy, breakdowns and major surgeries all came to visit. When Robin passed away in 2004, Asta told me she had no regrets.

Today Asta is mourned by me, her son, and her two grandchildren Emily and Hattie. Mum's life ended in dementia and loss of independence but she never lost her sense of humour and kept a smile and a giggle until the end. She passed away in her sleep some weeks after a stroke.

  • Liisa Lettington was a long term and very close friend of my mum. Liisa kept in touch and visited mum as often as she could. She was in touch with me in the run up to the funeral and was planning to send some words about her as she was unable to attend the funeral in person. Very sadly Liisa died last week. Her daughter Anna brought her unfinished words to the service. We weren't able to read them out unfortunately but here they are. Thank you Liisa. I hope you and mum are nattering away in Finnish together somewhere, just like always. xx

I had a pleasure of knowing Asta when she was a regular guest in our finnish ladies group. I loved her sense of humour and lively personality. She was also very fond of classical music and attended many concerts to some of which I went with her. I have very fond memories of her and would like to send my condolences to Henry and His family.

I had a pleasure of knowing Asta as she attended the Bromley "ladies" coffee evenings. She always had something amusing to contribute with her great sense of humour and lively personality. She loved classical music and she had a wonderful life with Robin.
My Condolences go to Henry and his family.

  • Yes. It's my favourite picture of them both.
