Una Patricia Newman (13 Jun 1946 - 15 Oct 2018)

In loving memory of Una Patricia Newman (Pat) who sadly passed away on 15th October 2018 at Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr.

Pat the eldest of 2 daughters born to Una and David Davies in 1946 made her entrance into the world at home at no 6 Celyn Grove, Caerphilly. A few years later her sister Lynette (Lyn) arrived and the sisters enjoyed their childhood years. Pat lost her dad when she was 22 years old and found comfort in attending church and on occasion went 3 times a day with Lyn. It was there she met Mark who she later went on to marry in 1965.
They went on to have three daughters Linda, Dawn and Sian. They then moved into No 5 Celyn Grove, opposite Pats childhood home. Pat was a wonderful mum, she worked part time to fund the annual holidays to Weymouth, but was always there for her girls. As the girls grew up and had families of their own, Pat and Mark developed and interest in local politics with both of them being elected as Caerphilly Town Councillors and during their time with the council both became Caerphilly Town Mayors.
Mark became ill in 2015 and spent 5 months in hospital, Pat was at the hospital every day with him and they even 'celebrated' their 50th wedding Anniversary at the hospital. Unfortunatly Mark passed away in November 2015, Pat was devastated but could see he was at peace and no longer suffering.
Pats health deteriorated but it didn't stop her enjoying herself with a girly stay in Weston Super Mare, a trip to Butlins and a number of trips to Airshows. Earlier this year Pat became housebound, then went on to lose mobility. She went into hospital in August as she had suffered with heart failure since the age of 48 and at this point was at end stage and also stage 4 kidney failure. Pat gave her visitors plenty to smile about during the last 9 weeks of her life, although very poorly she still had her sense of humour. Her lovely friend Viv travelled a few times from Gloucester to visit her and she would smile as soon as she entered the room, this is true friendship, they hadn't had a cross word in 70 years.
Pat passed away on the 15th October with her daughters by her side.
Pat was a beautiful lady inside and out, she had plenty of grandchildren and great grandchildren all of who she adored dearly. Pat will be missed dearly by all of her family and friends.
