In loving memory of Anthony John Harman who sadly passed away on 22nd September 2018

Anthony John Harman, known to most as Tony. Born on Thursday 8th February 1940, to Doris and Henry Harman, having two elder siblings, a sister, Maureen and a brother Patrick. He also had a close relationship through his life with his twin cousins Jackie and Pauline, who he always held a very soft spot for

He went to Becontree School and later went on to study at Barking Technical College. He grew up and became a meagre 6'7" in height. A gentle giant

Tony had an insatiable love for all sports, which turned into a love of playing, both cricket and rugby for local teams when he attended college. As you can well imagine is height became an enormous asset

On many occasions when he was younger he travelled with Club Med to many different countries. When he was 50 he travelled to America, a trip of a lifetime for him, having always wanting to go there, where he travelled through Florida with the highlight being his visit to NASA

Earlier in his life he loved jazz, and later turned to the Classics - Opera, Orchestral, Andre Rieu and beautiful singers such as Mario Lanza, Andrea Bocelli, Lucianno Pavrotti and Jose Carreras

Tony was a very gentle and loving person, who adored having a chat (and boy, could he chat), joking and laughing with everyone he came across. But, no matter what, there was ALWAYS a smile. He will be sadly missed

Please don't cry
just because we had to part
as long as you remember me
I'll live on in your heart '

Dearest uncle Tony,

When I think of you I think or fairies and angels, happy little dogs, smiles over cups of tea and biscuits, your quiet chuckle and rugby. You and aunty Joan are more like grandparents than an uncle and aunty to me. There is a special place in my heart and memories, a piece of you, that will stay with me forever. Whenever I taste a custard cream, see a little yorkie, or spot a rugby game on the TV, I'll think of you. Of your kind smile and your big bear hugs. Love you always x

Dear uncle Tony, I can only smile when I think of you. Your smile was the best! And I loved our chats about everything and nothing. I am so lucky to have called you my uncle, your house with Auntie Joan was always a safe haven of warmth, love and peace and every visit, since I was very small playing in the fairy garden with Sam, was filled with the simple joy of life. Now you’re in peace and every sunny day will touch me with your light. With all my love Jo, Andy, Oscar and Henry xxxx

I first remember Tony from going to Becontree school in the 1950's, Tony was older than me so we rarely spoke as we trooped our way to and from the school gates at the end of Stevens road. He was always a big fella even then and stood head and shoulders above us all, after we left school and went our separate ways I never really saw him until he became Patricia, my wife's brother in law. I shall miss your cheeky grin.

We all loved Tony, so agree with the above, such a gentle man, not a bad bone in his body.
Will sadly missed by myself and Pauline. We loved him.

Miss Me But Let Me Go

When I come to the end of the road
And the sun has set on me,
I want no tears in a gloom filled room,
Why cry for soul set free

Miss me a little — but not too long,
And not with your head bowed low,
Remember the love that we once shared
Miss me — but let me go

For this is a journey that we all must take
And each must go alone.
It’s all a part of a master plan,
A step on the road to home

When you are lonely and sick In Heart
Go The the friends we know
And talk about the good times,
Miss me — but let me go

My thoughts are with you on your journey
You will be missed, God Bless
All my love, Shirley

Dear Tony, you will be sadly missed because you touched our hearts. A life that touches others goes on forever. It was a real pleasure to have known you. Now you are free of pain may you go on to play all the sports you loved in the playground in the sky. We have reserved a special place for you in our hearts, much love Pat ‘n’ Ian xxx💕
