In loving memory of John Blake who sadly passed away on the 8th April 2018.

John was born in Bermondsey on the 25/09/46 to Violet and John, and has a sister Linda.

When John was around the age of 11 they moved as a family from Bermondsey to Downham, where he spent his young adult life. During that period he made a great many friends, some of whom he remained close to all his life.

John met Maureen in May 1969, and they were married the following year. In 1971 they had a daughter, Natalie.

In his early years John worked for a large roofing contractor, but eventually decided that he wanted to be his own boss and started a roofing company with a business partner, and in latter years by himself. Many of John's friends entered into the same trade, and he often worked with them, although it was hard manual work they had lots of laughs along the way!

Although John did not have a large immediate family but he remained very close to his sister Linda and brother-in-law Doug, and spent many a happy hour in their company.

John loved sport, and his early years played football, tennis and golf and would think nothing of playing a round of golf in the morning and then popping down the tennis club for a match in the afternoon! Latterly John took to watching sport rather than participating, but it was always something he enjoyed immensely.

John enjoyed his downtime and thoroughly enjoyed holidaying with family, and his dearest friends, and was always the life and soul of the party!

John had a great sense of humour, he never took life too seriously and it was always a pleasure to be in his company as you were guaranteed a laugh!

Even though John was retired, he still claimed that Friday night was his favourite night of the week and he liked to enjoy a pint and takeaway, but most importantly to him, in the company of his family.
