In loving memory of Les Miller who sadly passed away on 9th December 2017.

Born in Stornoway between the wars in 1929. Les had a happy family life with his two brothers, Louis and Alistair. His father owned the local garage and Mum, Alice, looked after the domestic arrangements.
Les spoke fondly of his childhood ; playing in the Castle grounds and the Harbour.
At 18 he left the Islands for the mainland where, after his National Service, he studied textile design at Galashiels College. Here he met and married Norma, his wife for 56 years. 4 children and 10 house moves over the next decade before the family settled back in Galashiels with Les now working as a lecturer at the College.
The children all grew up in Gala through the 70s and 80s before scattering to the corners of the kingdom and bringing 4 grandchildren into Les's life.
Les's passions were mountain climbing, musicals, photography and long holidays in France or walking the dog back home over Gala Hill.
After Norma passed away in 2012, he moved to the west to be nearer family and lived proudly and independently in Milngavie.
Eventually he needed a bit more support and entered a care home where he died peacefully within a month after a very short illness.
He was a proud, dignified and self-contained gentleman and he will always be remembered well by family and friends.

Dear all,
Many thanks for advising us of your dads death, your card and the enclosed details arrived yesterday.
At this time Rhona's and my thoughts go back to the 1970's the period when we were mostly involved with your mum and dad, and the fun and laughs we had with them, mostly involving "the Opera"
Your dad was a very kind and obliging man always happy to help and become involved, a good friend. The Dinner Party we had a couple of years ago allowed us to catch up and reminisce over old times. A very interesting and memorable evening. Happy times.

Kind regards.
Brian and Rhona.
