Our beloved Malcolm sadly passed away on Monday 4th December 2017 at the Western General Hospital after a courageous battle with ill health.
Born in Australia in 1955 to Arch and the now late Margaret, he became a younger brother for Deborah, and was subsequently joined by another brother and sister, Bruce and Dorell. Later on in life, he became affectionately known to his nieces and nephews as "Uncle Muncle"!
In 2001, his life was enriched beyond measure by the birth of his adored son, Daniel, whose mother Elaine has stayed close and been his very best friend throughout good times and bad.
Malc was a loving, fun, kind and generous man, touching many people’s hearts and lives along the way. He was fantastic company and so very clever! He gained a degree in Computer Science in the latter part of his life, proving that if you set your mind to something, you can indeed do it. He had a huge passion for supporting the underrepresented in society, speaking out against injustices within our social structure whenever he was able. He was a multi-faceted man who didn't like to boast about his own achievements but often lifted up those of his friends and family, of whom he was so proud.

We invite you to join us in the celebration of Malcolm’s life at Mortonhall Crematorium, and then for some food and drinks immediately afterwards, at The Toby Carvery, opposite the crematorium. Afterwards, we will make our way to the Mercat Hotel in Haddington, which was Malcolm’s favourite pub, to have a drink and share some cherished memories.
Please dress exactly how you want to as Malcolm would have really appreciated that. Be comfortable and be happy.

It is worth noting that one of the last things that Malc did was to make a donation to Macmillan Cancer Support. We would be delighted if you could follow his lead and use the donation button on this page. Theirs is such important work. There will also be a collection box at the Crematorium should you prefer to donate that way.

We would love it if you would use this site to upload any photographs, memories and thoughts you would like to share about Malcolm.

If you have any enquiries, please do not hesitate to contact Gillian of Scotmid Funeral Directors on 0131 229 7789.

Malcolm was a unique character whose sense of fun sometimes got him into trouble but he brightened up everybody's life. He managed to get himself barred from the Diggers when he was the bartender. What a star.

Malcolm was a great person to work for, he usually liked to play a prank on new members of ithos. but that was just to break the ice, Malcolm really encouraged everyone that worked for him. he will be missed by all those that knew him.
