Robert Samson (13 Apr 1931 - 9 Nov 2017)

Robert Samson was to me; a wise, funny and (i think it's fair to say) canny man.
In my teens he would look me straight in the eye and ask (with apparent genuine interest) about some new fangled hobby; I'd answer in wide eye'd teenage earnest, only to be knocked down for six with a withering putdown that initially stung, but soon had you laughing at yourself along with him.

Humility is a life-lesson worth it's weight in gold, and if you hung around Robert for a night; you'd a billionaire. He was so much smarter than he let on, warm hearted and truly great company for all ages. He'll be sadly missed.

My sincere condolences to all the Samson Family on the loss of Robert Samson.
I have very fond memories of "Bob Samson"; he was always good fun, he had a wry sense of humour and he cared about his family as much as any man that I have ever met.

To end on a pleasant memory of Robert.......He successfully secured the tent that Steven and I used on our Euro-tour in 1974! I'm grateful for the memories of a very fine man.
