Still miss this big man in my life every day. Felt really down on Saturday and Sunday for no reason and then it dawned on me it was 4 years ago we said goodbye to dad at his funeral. Mixed emotions since and thought of him a lot over the last 2 days so thought i would light a candle and write this short message. Dad I love you and miss you xx

Nearly a year since we said goodbye still remembered every day that goes by,
your smiling face and funny tales clever wit and charming the girls
your passion for life, your garden and family, your knowledge of everything from hyacinth to bramley
how we miss your colour and unique style, what we’d all give to again see that smile
so a year on its no easier to bear knowing that you are no longer there
But your memory is strong and although you are gone
We remember you with love and know you look on from above
Miss you Dad xx

Being in Australia we have been separated physically from Uncle Peter. We had been able to keep in contact by phone. It was always enjoyable to chat to Uncle Peter on the phone, I always enjoyed hearing about what Jenny and he were doing, holidays, his family and news about his church. It was great seeing him enjoying himself with his sons on Facebook posts.
More recently his health problems were a concern but last time I spoke to him a few weeks before he died, he was sounding quite cheerful. It was a shock to hear that he had died. I regret that we never got back to England to see him but treasure the time when we visited England in 1980 and when Jenny and Peter Came out to Australia in 1993. We still have a video of that visit which includes my Mum and Dad, Uncle Peters brother.
Our thoughts are with Jenny, his family and friends at this very sad time. Uncle Peter is with his Brother and my Dad Geoff and my Mum Evelyn now and we know we will meet up again sometime for eternity.

  • Thank you David & Janice for your lovely message. The service for dad was on Monday 27th and as you would imagine a packed church gave him the most wonderful send off. Beautiful words from his friends and colleagues and a fitting wake after with many many friends and family. I am sure you will keep in touch with Jenny and we will keep the updates going on family news on Facebook. Steve x
