Reginald Edwin Porter (19 Jun 1939 - 5 Sep 2017)

We only got to know Reginald at our uncle Don's funeral but took to him right away. Following that event we spent a few delightful days with him and Shirley in May 2014 on our way to Scotland and were looking forward to many more meetings but heart problems on my part intervened later that year. At least we got to know Reg and see how happy he made Shirley.

So so sorry to hear of your sad news Shirley. Although we have never been in close contact over the years I was always kept 'up to speed' by dad (Don) who would fondly tell me of a letter or card he had received from you. We unfortunately cannot attend Reg's funeral but you and Lisa will be in our thoughts even more so on Thursday. With our fondest love and deepest sympathy, Nick and Jackie, Brighton xx

Though I had only known Reg briefly we had had some interesting conversations and I was looking forward to more in the future. Sad that this will not happen. Sadly we will not be able to come to the funeral as we are on holiday. Sincere sympathies to all the family.

So sorry to hear the sad news about Reg & send our love & condolences to Shirley & the family. Happy memories both on & off the cricket pitch not forgetting the famous Regi-burgers after a match which are still talked about to this day. Reg & Shirleys' commitment to Newburgh & the sports club was very commendable . Unfortunately we won't be back from Australia in time to join you on the 21st but will be thinking about you.
