In loving memory of Annie Veronica Gillan who sadly passed away on 30th July 2017
Annie (Nancy) Gillan nee Hoile, mum, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. Nancy was born in Barry, in South Wales in 1923. Married Alexander Sayers Gillan in 1943. Nancy had many jobs during her lifetime, most in a caring role. she was a Nursing Auxillary for many years and a Warden in Sheltered Housing for the Elderly. During the early 1970s Nancy and Alec moved away from Barry, living in various places Plymouth, Tilbury and Exeter. finally settling in Stafford in 1996. Sadly Alec passed away in 2009. Over the next eight years Nancy's health deteriorated, she suffered from heart disease and had several 'mini strokes' which affected her memory. Nancy suffered a major stroke on 20th July and passed away at The Royal Stoke University Hospital on Sunday 30th July.
Nancy will be remembered by family and friends, for her sense of humour, her fantastic singing voice and her faith in
God.

I have fondent memories for both my uncle Alex & my aunt Nancy, I remember one intense that stands out. It was back in the early 70's they both traveled all the way to Glasgow, the birth place of my uncle Alex. They visited my Dad Jackie / John, my aunt Nancy invited me to lunch with them both.
I thought WOW! this is the first time I'd ever been taken out to lunch with you. I was so happy to be with two loving caring relatives, I was honored to have been with them botth all afternoon. I can honestly say, I've never felt so loved and wanted before. I know for sure they are together again in the kingdom of heaven, united in the house of God.

Sleep tight our very funny, talented, generous, caring and hard working mum.

Things weren't always easy for you, but you were never afraid to have a go at anything and you taught me a lot.

I'm so glad Tanya and I were able spend those last few hours with you before you peacefully slipped away.

No more anguish or pain now mum, your work is all done here.

Thank you mum for everything you did for us. I will always love you and miss you.

A big thank you also to the wonderful Palliative Care Team at the Royal Stoke University Hospital
The professional, compassionate and dignified way you looked after mum during the last days of her life was really impressive.

“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.
Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.
What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?
Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God’s elect? It is God that justifieth. Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:28-39.

Corinne and I are so grateful that we got to visit mum just a few days before her stroke. She was her usual mischievous self and we enjoyed some laughter. Just 10 days later and she was gone, passing away peacefully at 16.45 on the 30th July.

Farewell to our funny and talented mother, singer, comedian, mimic and mother of four.
