In loving memory of Patricia Ann Clara Greenslade who sadly passed away on 2nd August 2017.

Born 19 June 1937 to Charles and Dorothy Tanner. 9 years later she became an older sister to Maureen Tanner. The two of them grew up together and remained the best of friends for the next 71 years. A true testament the special bond that sisters share.

Pat went to school in Welling and was a good student whilst trying to keep her rebel sister out of trouble! Growing up she loved her records and 45s listening to artists such as Chuck Berry, The Platters, Jerry Lee Lewis and of course her favourite Tom Jones. She loved movies too and her idol was Gregory Peck. But it was in the late 1940’s that she met the true love of her life on a blind date – Fred (Wally) Greenslade and on the 28th of July in 1956 they were married. They shared the next 61 years together in a wonderful, loving and devoted marriage.

It was in 1968, their loving son Ian came into their lives and 2 years later a loving daughter, Janis, completed the family. Over the years the family spent wonderful holidays together and shared many happy memories, Devon, at Mr and Mrs Georges’, Malta and Melhia Bay, Disney World and Scotland. Days out to museums, parks, countryside and the seaside - in particular St Marys Bay and Herne Bay; building sand castles and picnicking on the beach.

When Maureen brought her son Paul in to the world the family grew once more and Paul, Pat’s loved nephew, joined many a family adventure. Later Paul met his partner Eve and had a son of his own, Charlie, who mum cherished.

Pat was the most wonderful mum. Adored by her children and their friends. Who remember her generosity, her warmth and her crinkle chips! Once the children had flown the nest she and Fred fell in love with Guernsey and holidayed there regularly for many years.

In 2002, Janis fell in love with Darran and Pat and Fred welcomed him with love and open arms to the family. They shared many outings, lunches and dinners together.

Ian lived in Slovakia for a few years to be with his son Richard, Pat's first Grandchild, when his first marriage sadly ended. It was whilst here he met and fell in love with Monika, his now Fiancé. They returned to the UK together in 2002 and in September 2009, Ian and Monika brought Laura into the world. A granddaughter who Pat and Fred adored and loved very much. In 2016, Ian and Monika became engaged and Pat and Fred were delighted.

Tragically in December 2009 Pat suffered a Stroke which left her immobile and unable to speak. Her devoted husband Fred cared for her every hour of every day for the next 8 years and the love they shared was never more evident. Pat remained positive. Keeping a twinkle in her eye and a smile for everyone. Which her wonderful Avante carers will testify to.

Pat continued to have her hair done every Saturday by her friend and hairdresser Karen. Karen had been looking after Pat’s hair for over 30 years so you can imagine this was more than a haircut and a chance to catch-up and have a bit of a gossip. Pat always looked forward to Karen’s visits. She was very particular about her hair and took pride in her appearance. Boots profits will now take a nose dive with the dip in hairspray sales!

Everyone who knew her is going to miss her very much. The world is just a little bit duller without her and heaven just received a beautiful new resident.

Pat was the most wonderful lady, and my second mum when I was a child, when I look back on those days I remember her beautiful smile, she was always smiling, she was for me a warm and loving lady with so much energy that made me feel excited as a child, I loved going to Jans house, the beautiful garden where we played with our dolls, the birthday parties which were just fabulous and still to this day I treasure these memories, The 'lousy t.shirt from Malta', those delicious crinkle chips, the list is endless! Janis was my childhood best friend in the world and Pat & Wally gave us the most amazing memories together that I will treasure forever xxxxx
