Ken, you know that Lucy and I will be there with yourself and Stu & Andy next Monday.
Both Tom and James will still be away, but you are in their thoughts, and memories of Janet are firmly in their minds ... after all, it was Jan who made sure there were Ginger Biscuits in the flat for each Sky Blues home match!

Ken and family my deepest condolences. A wonderful, outgoing, sharp and funny woman, Janet took me under her wing at Stoneleigh, looked after my dog, Jack, and like Roger told me when my hair needed cutting! She didn't miss a trick and always had a funny story (frequently budgie related) or a juicy bit of gossip to liven up the day. I'll miss her. Adrian x

Hi Ken. The news about Janet was so sad, but it was a life lived well with lots of happiness and humour! We know that Janet and you were a strong team - as I like to think we are - and that counts for a lot. Janet was a quite a character and was very supportive to me when we worked in the same organisation for a while. We haven't seen Jan or you Ken very much in recent times, but you were both genuine and long standing friends and that is the most important thing.
We are unable to attend on 7th as we are away at a festival and once in they won't let cars off site. Our thoughts will be with you on the day though and we look forward to meeting up when you feel ready for that.

Jan's humour has left us with memories to make us smile, a lovely person who will be missed at Stoneleigh reunions but never forgotten.

Ken. I was very sorry to hear of Janet's passing. I worked at Stoneleigh between 1996 and 2004. Janet was just lovely. She had a wicked sense of humor and always brought a smile to everyone's face. She was very kind, always thinking of others and making sure people were ok. Unfortunately I am unable to attend the funeral, but accept my sincere condolences.

Kind regards.

Neil

We did like a laugh - which got us into trouble on at least one occasion!

With very affectionate memories of Jan, a key member of the close-knit HSE Agricultural team at Stoneleigh. Her wickedly dry and impish sense of humour constantly made us howl. This special quality, her huge heart and support for everyone in the office sustained us all and was one of those indefinable elements that helped maintain high morale, especially in moments of adversity ... of which there were a few. A great leveler, Jan had a wonderful knack of (nicely) bringing almost anyone down to earth. Her last words to me were at our most recent Stoneleigh Ag HSE re-union "See you next time then, ex-boss, and by the way Rodge .... get your hair-cut... you're still meant to be a public servant not a bloomin' rolling stone!" Memories are made of moments like this. They'll be writhed in smiles at St Pete's gate.

  • Well put, Roger - As ever! What can I add? The last time I saw Janet was at the last Gathering of ex-Stoneleigh staff and I was only thinking the other day we ought to have another get together soon..... Sadly there will be an(other) empty chair next time. [We can only post one photo on here, so I have used the photo of our Gathering in 2013 as that had more 'faces' on it - sadly including Pam who is no longer with us either.] I always enjoyed Janet's company and her very dry sense of humour. I'm sure she will have retained that to the end. I'm also sure that you will have plenty of happier memories to look back on, Ken. One of mine that I associate with Janet will be that giant snail which used to come to Stoneleigh for its holidays! It seemed to be a metaphor for life in HSE.... [Draw your own conclusions from that, people!] Anyway, our thoughts are with you, Ken. I have passed on the sad news to other ex-HSE colleagues through the ex-Ag Inspectors network 'MIDAS' - many worked with Janet over the years.
