Mike was a kind man and my lovely brother-in-law for quite a few years; especially so when he agreed to stand in and give me away at my wedding in 1984 - we even sported the same hair style for a few years in the 1980s!! :)
He was a great Dad to Jonathan (and Emily & Martin for many years) and thoroughly enjoyed his grandchildren, Belle & Bowen in the last few years. I have many happy memories of family fun at the Great Dorset Steam Fair, ploughing competitions, Pedlars Roost etc. Mike was so very happy when he was enjoying the outdoors and operating heavy machinery!
He will be greatly missed.

Treasured times - rest in peace now and be proud of what you gave to others.

We are sorry to hear of the sad passing of Mike

After a protracted battle with lung and liver cancer Michael peacefully passed away on Friday 31st March at the side of son Jonathan.

He showed great spirit and fight, and was determined not to be beaten despite being told 18 months previously it was terminal. He maintained this positivity, right up until his final days.

He leaves behind his son Jonathan, daughter in-law Faye, grandchildren Belle (5) and Bowen (3) and not to mention his three younger brothers, David, Robin and Peter, and all his extended family.

Michael was born in Milton Abbas, Dorset to Eric and Mary Winn. Educated in local schools, with a love for the outdoors he went on to study at agricultural college, before moving onto work on many farms and fields in his beloved tractors.

He loved his tractors, both real and 1:32 scaled versions. He had recently bought a Fordson Super Major with plans to compete in ploughing matches and show it off and shows. Something his son will continue to do (maybe not the ploughing matches)

Gurston Down speed hill climb was a favorite of his, but it was the Great Dorset Steam Fair that he had a great passion for. Working on the threshing machine, displaying his stationary engine and spending the week sleeping in his sheppard’s hut on site in the granfers day section was his highlight of the year.
