In loving memory of Irene Christina Wray who sadly passed away on 21st February 2017.

Irene was born at 50 Granton Crescent, Edinburgh on 14th January 1940, the home of her father David and mother Mary. She was the youngest of five children. David, May, John and Albert being her older siblings.

Irene was educated at Granton Road Primary School and Broughton Academy in Edinburgh. She was a very able student, but because of the finanancial situation of her widowed mother Mary, opted for a commercial course to equip her to gain employment quicker.

First employment was as a Travel Agent with Sir Henry Lunn Travel, who had an office in the Jenners store on Princes Street, Edinburgh.

Met her husband Arthur, at the Cavendish Dance Hall, Edinburgh in 1958, whilst he was on leave from RAF Halton where he was training to be an Aircraft Technician. They were married at St Margaret Mary's Church, Edinburgh on 31st August 1961, whilst Arthur was stationed at RAF Leuchars in Fife. Later that year they moved to RAF Laarbruch in Germany for almost three years. They lived in a two room flat above Schulters Gasthoff on the Hauptstrasse in Kevelaer.

In 1964 returned to UK with a posting to RAF Waddington in Lincolnshire. Irene was occupied raising two children, Sue and Alison for the next six years.

The family were then posted to RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus. It was an idyllic posting for her and the children. Plenty of beach time coupled with an excellent social life with similar minded service families. Plenty of evenings out having leisurly Kebabs and Mezes in Limassol. She enjoyed her time in Cyprus so much.

In 1975 returned to RAF Waddington.

On Arthur's discharge from the Royal Air Force in 1977, took employment with Securicor Ltd as their Branch Administrator in Lincoln.

Retired after more than twenty years with Securicor.

Spent retirement enjoying her garden and travel to many parts of the world including Australia, Canada, United States, Thailand, Sri Lanka and most countries bordering the Mediterranean Sea.

She is survived by her husband, Arthur, daughters Sue and Alison and grandchildren Louise, Luke and Chloe.

We never ask for miracles,
But today just one would do,
To see our front door open,
And our dearest Mum walk through.

All my love as ever
Miss you Mum Xxx
