In loving memory of Ian Farren - Dad, Husband and adventurer - who sadly passed away on 15th February 2017 Aged 69 years.

In true Ian style and fashion, please feel free to join us in wearing an exotic "Ian-esque" shirt to the funeral, if you wish to, as we come together at 12.30pm on Friday 17th March at Lincoln Crematorium to celebrate his life and adventures.

Please find details to the venue below in addition to the location of the wake where we will continue on with the celebrations and detailing of his infamous stories - Please follow the link to confirm your attendance.

We will only be having family flowers at the funeral, and therefore ask if anybody wanted to bring some flowers to donate the cost to Cancer Research UK instead using the link to "Just Giving" on this page. It is thanks to this vital research that we were all lucky enough to have many extra happy years and memories with Ian.

Finally we would also like to extend a huge heart-felt thank you for the messages, love and compassion that you have shown through this difficult time.

We very much look forward to seeing you all on the day, and in the meantime ask for you to please share your memories and photos of Ian on this page as we look to use them to create a book to help remember him by.

Love Barbara, Fraser and Lewis x

Funeral: 12.30pm Lincoln Crematorium, Washingborough Road, Lincoln LN4 1EF

The man that was Ian Farren was very much a mountain of a man. He often only allowed you to see a fraction of the man that he was. We met Ian on a windy and cold Jebel Ali beach for he first time 25 years ago. Our family units bonded immediately so that Ian, Barbara, Fraser and Lewis became our extended family. Little by little during the next 8 years Ian revealed the different facets that made him such a deep and complex individual.

He was truly happy when off discovering remote places such as Fossil Valley and Wadi Bih in the UAE, the wilderness of NZ's national parks or he outback of Australia. His knowledge of all things rock was phenomenal and he was never without his geologists hammer.
Ian's BBQ skills were next to none and we all know that he loved nothing better than a good snag wrapped in bread. Another facet Ian revealed to us was his love of heavy metal such as Status Quo and Guns & Roses. We always suspected that inside Ian there was a large hairy rocker or biker just waiting to break free.

However the largest part of the iceberg that was Ian was his incredible devotion to his family. There was nothing he wouldn't do for Fraser, Lewis and Barbara. It was this that George and I, Alexia and Gabriella loved and respected about Ian. And it was this part of the man that will leave the biggest hole in so many lives.

Fly free Ian over those Rocky Mountains and Red Desert sands. We were lucky to have shared some magical times with you from the giddy heights of the Haja mountains to the fantastic sunsets on Jebel Ali Beach to the abandoned villages of Ras Al Khaimah. The mud packs at Ohakune and the mountains in Tongariro National park, our time with you was just too short.
