In loving memory of Diana Jane Denman East who sadly passed away on 29th January 2017. Diana was Born 17th June 1952, Leicester, England.

After working for over twenty years as a freelance jewellery designer/maker she turned to working in glass in 1994. Di fell in love with glass, finding it a wonderful medium for personal expression. She particularly liked to help to introduce other people to glass through teaching the technique of flame work. Over the years Di taught in many countries India, Switzerland, France, Germany, Holland, Spain, New Zealand and USA as well as the united Kingdom, eventually setting up a large teaching studio at her home in Enderby, Leciester, where she taught for many years, hosting courses and workshops with many internationally renowned teachers. Many of us look back with very happy memories of days spent at the Old Dairy with Di and her husband Dave.

Di was often bothered by bouts of ill health - including an initial diagnosis of breast cancer about ten years ago, which she succesfully defeated. Unfortunately the cancer returned a few years later, but Di bravely carried on regardless, until eventually and very sadly succumbing to the illness in January.

Many of us who were fortunate to know Di will remember her warmth, optimism and generosity. Di forged many, many friendships throughout the world from the Glass community but also from her many other interests. Di was a real "Renaissance Woman" having interests as diverse as Calligraphy, Watercolours, Music, Knitting, Dolls House renovating, and so many other interests. Above all she was a real lover of life - enjoying spending her time with her granddaughter Molly, and watching the Swifts building their nests outside the window.

Here is her online obituary - where we wish to celebrate her life and remember a truly remarkable lady.

This hangs in my studio and is a fantastic memory of this epiphanic workshop that was my first time learning from this amazing team of glass artists, including Di. I was fortunate to visit the Dairy a couple of times to share stories and process. Love R
