I’ve stumbled across this site via a prompt from FB that I might want to send a friend request to Mr Walker. I was a bit sad to think I’d missed that opportunity when he was still with us all. I can hardly believe it’s been four years, but I’m so happy to see that people still think of him with warm hearts just like I do. This is my last week at Wesleyan and it feels almost meant to be that I’m here now to say what an amazing person Mr Walker was - in fact, still IS. Some people are just timeless and I’m so very honoured to have known him.

I am sitting here on the other side of the Atlantic in a state of shock. Big Martin gone? No!

I once played cricket against him and he was a fierce competitor on the pitch yet such a friendly personable guy off it. He interviewed me for a job at the Wesleyan and when he employed me, I could see how driven he was, how motivated he was to always help the customer, to be innovative, to carry oneself as a professional. He was a fine fine mentor and manager.

He really did have some great stories! Whenever the Baggies are on TV here in the States, I always think of Martin. A good man. A top bloke. Someone who pushed, motivated, drove others on to excellence. He had a tough exterior but was such a gentle happy guy. I loved my time at the Wesleyan and miss the people there very much - Martin was a huge factor in my love for the Wes.

Martin, a wonderful man that has left a lasting impression on me. From the first time working with him he looked after me, mentored and coached me, gave me such valuable advice and someone I'll always look up to. Full of life and full of praise which gave me confidence as a new manager. On top of that he was a lovely funny friend and I loved hearing his stories and his banter was hilarious. He would talk to me about his children and how much he adored them both and Lyndsay. I think he loved that I and Lyndsay shared a passion for fizz together. I'll never ever forget martin and the positive impression he's had on my professional and personal life. Love always Katie xxxxx

Martin's love won't go away
He walks beside you every day
Unseen, unheard but always near
Still loved, still missed and very dear

It was an absolute pleasure working with Martin for as long as I did & it was always easy to see how much he loved you Lindsay, Emma & Tom.

A wonderful man who had such passion for life & his family. A very gentle, kind & caring man.

Words are not enough to express how sorry I am.

A beautiful life that came to an end,
he died as he lived, everyone's friend.
In our hearts a memory will always be kept,
Of one we loved, and will never forget.

It was an honour to have met such a lovely, funny and gentle man. Always in our thoughts xxxx
