EULOGY TO IAN McCLEAVE SMITH

Darling Dad,  Grandpa  &  wonderful friend,

Today we say a final good-bye to you – you were a larger than life figure in all our lives and our hearts are heavy .

Sadly we all lived on different continents that separated us physically but  not ever  in our hearts and friendships.

You were very special and respected as a true friend,  gentleman and a man  of integrity and compassion.

You were adored and loved dearly by your children Ian, Liz  and Caroline and loved by your grandchildren Tyler, Kyle, Keagan and Ian III, you will  forever remain in our hearts and memories,  your family that loved you so much.

Sadly with living in different countries, you were often alone but we knew that you had a devoted brother in Gary that stayed true to you until the end. Granny Smith would have been proud of that total dedication to one another

You were respected and loved by your long- time friends – Des and Linda, Chris and Jet, George, Butch, Irma, Sally and so many many more, to many  too mention – all so sad at your passing. You will forever remain in all our hearts and we will keep you close in wonderful memories we all made with you.

God has been merciful in taking you home to rest – may your soul rest peacefully.

Until we meet again, we all will love you forever

Your ever loving children, grand - children and devoted friends.

It was with much sadness that Linda and I heard the news about our dear friend Ian passing away. When we were back in my hometown of Belfast I was so pleased to go visit Ian in his home with Linda. When I phoned him from my sisters house to say we wanted to come and see him,Ian said yes but don't expect me to say much due to my condition. We spent an hour with Ian and hardly got a word in as he did most of the talking and I left feeling grateful that I got to see my old friend once more.Ian and I go back a long way ,from ours days working in England and the USA for Mackies and then many years in Athlone Park ,South Africa where are families really got to know each other.

Our prayers and thoughts are with Ian's family at this sad time(especially Caroline and young Ian) and may the good Lord take care of him.Des and Linda Rountree.

My heart aches knowing I will not hear your kind and loving voice again. I know you are safe in the arms of Jesus and free of any worry and pain. Never a day will go by without me thinking of you Dad and I thank you for loving me so much, for always being by my side and for the wonderful father you were to me. You supported me unconditionally and encouraged me in the best way. May your precious soul rest in peace and I will see you in heaven Dad. Your loving daughter Caroline
