In loving memory of our beautiful Emma Ruth Wood who sadly passed away at her home and surrounded by her family on 24th May 2016.

Emma was the picture perfect daughter, an amazing big sister and, of course, the most beautiful wife. She could light up a room with her gorgeous smile and will long be remembered for her infectious laugh and determined outlook on life.

The sheer number of friends she has made and kept in the short space of 36 years is simply incredible but utterly unsurprising. She had a heart of gold and brought out the very best in us all. She will leave a void in the hearts of everybody who knew and loved her, forever.

We have found great comfort in reading such lovely comments via her Facebook page but if you could please take the time to share your memories, photos and tributes to Emma here we would be most grateful.

Floral tributes are preferred from the immediate family please, however if you would like to make a donation to the Heart of Kent Hospice via this obituary page we would be most appreciated.

For those attending the funeral remember this will be a celebration of Emma's life so please don't feel the 'need' to wear black. Feel free to wear whatever colour you'd like and feel comfortable in, it's what she would have wanted.

The reception will be held at the Sturdee Social Club, Sturdee Ave, Gillingham ME7 2HN

Although I didn't know Emma for as long as some, only making her acquaintance when she attended the Tumour Support Group some time ago, I soon realised she was a very special lady. With her infectious smile and wicked sense of humour, Emma always made us laugh. I can easily see how Keith fell in love with her. Emma was so young and full of life. her going is a tragedy. Never to be forgotten.

I never got the chance to meet Emma but have known Keith for many years now and know that the woman that caught Keith's heart and 'eye' must have seen what I see, a loyal, dedicated, deep and passionate man with the biggest heart and fiercest conviction in any friend I've ever known. I dare say Emma must have mirrored all and more of those decent traits, never waivering and always staying strong for each other. RIP young lady. On behalf of all the guys and girls at Silverback Publishing please accept this donation on behalf Emma Wood. X

The most beautiful girl, with the most beautiful heart. I remember the nights at Blues when we would dance like lunatics - but we didn't care because it made us giggle all night. You gave me words of comfort in some of the darkest times of my life and I will never, ever forget that. Life was so cruel to you, but you faced it with such courage, bravery and dignity - that we all can learn from.
Rest in peace my darling xxxxxxxxxxx

Em,
I will miss your smile,
Your voice on the other end of my phone,
Being able to see your face on Skype despite the distance,
Your way of making everything feel better just by listening and talking.

But most of all I'll be missing you.....

Forever in my heart and thoughts
Love you to the moon and back Em, Nez xoxo

A number of people, when close to death think not of themselves but of those they will leave. Their passing is, they believe, assured. What happens to those they love is not. After speaking with Keith, it is clear that Emma had those worries; for her family and for her friends.

This, from Henry Scott Holland, gives us, perhaps at least some of what Emma may have thought.

Death is nothing at all.
I have only slipped away to the next room.
I am I and you are you.
Whatever we were to each other,
That, we still are.

Call me by my old familiar name.
Speak to me in the easy way
which you always used.
Put no difference into your tone.
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow.

Laugh as we always laughed
at the little jokes we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me. Pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household word
that it always was.
Let it be spoken without effect.
Without the trace of a shadow on it.

Life means all that it ever meant.
It is the same that it ever was.
There is absolute unbroken continuity.
Why should I be out of mind
because I am out of sight?

I am but waiting for you.
For an interval.
Somewhere. Very near.
Just around the corner.

All is well.

I met you Emma just after you had finished your radiotherapy not long after you & Keith married. I no you were struggling with what you had been through yourself but like so many people have said you were the most caring, kind person I have ever met, you always had that lovely smile on your face. A smile I will never forget Xxx
