This page is dedicated to the memory of Helen Grant, a truly wonderful wife and loving mother who sadly passed away on 8th May 2016, after a brave but all-to-brief battle with breast cancer.

It comes as no surprise that her family have been inundated with messages, cards and well-wishes from so many people. Helen was the kindest, gentlest, most open-hearted and generous person you could wish to meet, relentlessly cheerful, always friendly and she is sorely missed by all who knew her.

Details of the funeral can be found here. Dress should be traditionally smart, but a splash of colour - especially pink - would be welcome.

Helen drew a lot of comfort from the support of the people at Macmillan and we know that she would much prefer you make a donation to them than spend money on flowers. Please use the link here for this.

Afterward we will be gathering in the function room of the Kings Head at 65 High Street, Bexley Village, Kent DA5 1AA to raise a glass or two of prosecco in her honour. Please feel free to join us.

I was so vey sad and shocked to receive the news of Helen's passing. She was truly my best friend at St. Georges School of Rome when I attended in 1976 and 1977. She was a beautiful person both inside and out. My thoughts and prayers to her family.

There is a sacredness in tears. They are not a mark of weakness, but of power. They speak more eloquently than ten thousand tongues. They are the messengers of overwhelming grief and of unspeakable love.

Helen was a good match for my brother, Robert, to whom she was a soul mate, friend and wonderful wife. She was keen to be a mother and when Callum and Jessica arrived, she devoted herself to them. Together with Robert, Helen ensured that her children were loved, encouraged and part of a loving and close-knit family. Of all of her achievements, this has to be the best.

When I went to live abroad, Helen thoughtfully organised a 'Bon Voyage' party and the children created some lovely drawings for me that I treasure to this day. This is just one example of how thoughtful she often was. Whenever Marc and I were back in the UK, Helen always wanted to see us so we could catch up on our lives; those times were usually full of good conversation and laughter, and are memories we will always treasure.

Her strength of character was evident in the way she chose to live her life as normally as possible during her illness, which she faced with courage, grace and dignity.

It is difficult to imagine our family life without her being with us.

If there is anything that might give comfort, it is knowing that Helen had a life that made her happy and which she lived as she wanted, and with those she cared for the most: being loved, and loving them to the fullest.
