In loving memory of Dennis Warwick who sadly passed away on 10th March 2016

Fifty-seven years ago Dennis married my aunt, Enid and by that time I knew him well. He was a lovely man, shy and gentle and I was so proud to be a bridesmaid at their wedding. Valerie and I wore lilac dresses and I still have mine. It was such a happy day. Dennis had a Morris Oxford car which my brother Les and I were lucky enough to get lots of rides in! Because my granddad was very unenthusiastic about his little girl having gentleman friends Enid always brought her boyfriends to our house first so that my Dad, her eldest brother, could vet them. Dennis passed the test and my granddad approved as well. He was a great favourite of my grandmother and he used to take her shopping, the hairdressers and generally look after her. He loved his garden and was a meticulous, tidy gardener.

Dennis and Enid were happy together and were blessed with their daughter Karen. Dennis worked hard for his family and cared for them.

Maybe that is his epitaph - He was a Loving, Caring Man.

God bless Dennis.

Dennis was part of my life for more than 60 years. One of my most vivid childhood memories is of visiting my grandparents in Bromley at the age of 5 in 1953. Being nine years younger than my mother Joan, my Aunt Enid was 18 and still living at home. I vividly remember Dennis calling to take Enid out dancing. With Dennis in his smart dark suit and Enid in a beautiful gown that set off her glorious auburn hair, they were the most glamorous couple I had ever seen. Six years later I was thrilled to be a bridesmaid at their wedding. My mother's love for her "baby sister" wrapped around Dennis too and after Enid's death in 1998 she would phone and visit him regularly. I too kept in touch with him and he was always the guest of honour at my birthday garden parties in Orpington because his birthday on 9 August was the day after mine. His dry humour and wit endeared him to all my friends. Since Dennis moved into residential care 3 years ago it's been my pleasure to continue to visit him and particularly to introduce him to his great-great-niece April (now 3) and great-great-nephew Solomon (now 1). He adored them and they loved him in return. Dennis never could resist Cadbury's Roses, Quality Street or After Eight Mints, so we always took a box with us. To sum it up in April's words: "Uncle Dennis, he loves chocolate!" We remember him with great love and affection. Valerie and family (Vitha and Phil; Gabriel, Ellie, April and Solomon)

Dennis was my Uncle, married to my father's younger sister Enid. I remember happy visits to Bexleyheath when I was little. We saw Dennis when he was in hospital after falling and breaking his hip. We also took Mum to see him when he was still living at home. Will remember Dennis fondly and his typical English sense of humour. Mum and the rest of the family send our condolences at this sad time.
With much love Hilary, Gary, Tom and Aimee
