In loving memory of Sheila Margaret Moss who sadly passed away unexpectedly on 8th September 2026.
A much-loved Mum and Nan, she was a teacher who was passionate about her subject of sociology and would proudly boast that she never had a day when she didn’t love her job. Most recently she enjoyed doing the cryptic crossword every day, knitting and crochet, and spending time with her close friends. Most of all, she loved her family — and she adored dogs. She would happily tell anyone who would listen that she preferred four-legged creatures to two-legged ones.
She will be deeply missed and forever loved.

Thank you so much to everyone who came to Mum’s funeral today, and to everyone who has supported us with your kind words, messages, cards and flowers. It meant more to us than I can put into words. I hope we gave Mum the farewell she deserved and that, in some small way, we did her proud. Thank you also to everyone who has made a donation in Mum’s memory so far. Its very sad to hear about the passing of Mrs. Moss my form teacher back in the 80's. She put up with my talking, cheekiness and dating her lovely daughter. After many different career starts she told me she was proud of me when I became a teacher, and honestly that was deeply moving for the kid who craved attention. I suspect my no nonsense approach is rooted in her teaching. Rest well in that staff room in the sky Mrs. Moss, Shiela x

I love that you feel some of her influence stayed with you – I’m sure she would have been delighted to hear that. I first met Sheila at 13 when she was my formidable Humanities teacher. At 17 she tried vallantly to get me to pass Sociology A Level in one year. We stayed in close contact throughout the following years, Sheila watched my girls grow up, and became an amazing Godparent to my Grandaughter River. Sheila was a very special lady, a great fiend, I loved her very much and now very sadly a part of my jigsaw of my life is missing.
