Alan Henry Birleson (7 Apr 1934 - 25 Jul 2026)

In loving memory of Alan Henry Birleson who sadly passed away on 25th July 2026, age 92 years.

Dad was born in Popular, in the East End of London and loved his football, West Ham United was his team. As a teenager, Dad was very fit and would often cycle from Dagenham to his Grandfather's farm in Long Melford, Suffolk.

In his youth, Dad loved to play darts and was a frequent visitor to the Railway Club in East Ham, where he won many Darts Trophies with his teammates and lifelong friends.

He was also a keen gardener and had his own allotment in Clacton-on-Sea where he lived for the past 28 years.

He loved cricket and played from his youth right up until his late 80's when he would play with his grandchildren on the beach in Jaywick.

Dad loved animals, especially dogs, and was the owner of many over the years.

Dad was a very sociable person who loved singing and dancing going out and being in the company of friends.

He was an extremely charismatic man who was funny and would frequently tell jokes and funny stories.

His love for endless cups of tea was legendary. If it contained a drop of rum it was "Beautiful" he would frequently comment.

The funeral service will take place at The Traditional Chapel, City of London Cemetery, at 11:00am.
The service will be immediately followed by a Reception at Valentines Mansion & Gardens. Please dress colourfully to reflect Alan's character.
