Simon Joseph Hemingway (4 Oct 1957 - 9 Jul 2026)

Knowing Simon was an honor, we got into loads of scapes together growing up but usually Simon got us through with his wit, charm and total likability. He is greatly missed by anyone who knew him.

This donation is in memory of my brother Simon who in turn wanted to give towards this same cause in memory of our Mam Betty, who passed away on September 13th 2002.

This donation is in memory of my brother Simon who passed away very suddenly in Dartmouth on July 9th. Missed by hundreds, loved by hundreds!

Simon will be very sadly missed by his nextdoor neighbours Pauline and Geoff and everyone at Tarn House Skipton. Rest in peace.

I just wanted to say how much everyone did Simon proud, Ginny, Sam & John (all Simons family) the way you conducted yourselves and the words you spoke gave Simon the send off he deserved. The service was lovely and it was confirmation of how much Simon was loved. The guard of honour from my Ambulance colleagues/friends and the fire service was a testiment to how much respect and love we all have for Simon, a legend, family man, great friend with a heart of gold you will be missed.

In Memory of Simon


Simon,
You have left this world far too soon!! To think that you have left us still doesn’t seem quite real.

You were always the happiest, kindest man and would light up any room you walked into. You were like a second dad to me, someone I could always go to when I wasn’t feeling my best. You’d make me laugh when I wanted to cry.

We shared some incredible times together over the years. One of my favourites was when we would walk into Skipton and sit outside the front of The Castle with a pint in hand. Or the time you pushed me around Skipton in a wheelchair - we did, or should I say you did, nearly run a poor lady over! But she was getting in the way!

I’ll miss you bringing back onion bhajis and samosas from Wakefield (well, I think that’s where you got them from!) when you were cooking one of your famous curries.

I’ll miss the roast chicken dinners, when you’d stick a can of lager up a chicken’s rear and shove it on the BBQ.

You are leaving behind such a big hole, but it’s a hole that will be filled with incredible memories.

I’ll be there for Sam and Ginny whenever they need me. And I will go back to The Castle and raise a glass to you.

Love you lots, Simon. Miss you sooo much already. ❤️

A man who could lighten up your life every time you saw him. He always had something amusing to say.
Condolences to Ginny and Sam. I know he will be missed greatly.

Simon will always be in our thoughts. He was such a caring, friendly person who always had time for other people. He will be sadly missed by all who new him. Thinking of Ginny and Sam at this very sad time.

So sorry to hear this. I remember Simon from when he took Sam to mother and toddler groups and Battyeford. He was a lovely man. Our thoughts go to Ginny and Sam and all the family. May he rest in peace
