In loving memory of Elisa Davey who sadly passed away on 10th July 2026
Born on the 24th July 1950 in Batley, Yorkshire West Riding, Elisa Margaret was the only child of Harold and Joan Whalley. During her early years Elisa suffered with a weak chest exacerbated by industrial pollution and her family were advised to move South and, aged six, the family moved to Salisbury where she had a happy childhood.
Elisa was at college in Southampton when her parents moved to WashCommon, Newbury in 1970, around the corner from her husband to be, John.
At a serendipitous meeting at John's sister's (Jean) twenty first birthday party in January 1972, Elisa and John met as a blind date which resulted in an immediate and lifelong rapport. They were married on 4th November 1972 followed by two sons, James (1976) and Adam (1979).
Hardworking, intelligent, kind, elegant and vibrant, with a quirky sense of humour and a ready smile, Elisa was intensely loyal to her family and friends and immensely proud of both sons and her grandchildren, Ella and Thomas.
With an inquiring mind and a great zest for life, Elisa threw herself into her interests (family, antiques, horse-riding, travel, gardening, bridge, and West Horsley Place) with enthusiasm, always wanting to know more.
For the past seven years Elisa has had an inordinate satisfaction from volunteering at West Horsley Place particularly with her Ghost tours. Her favourite quote being:
"I was just thinking, it ought to have been thought dull and commonplace, the same sunrise over the same house in the same tiny piece of England, every day for two hundred years, but it is beautiful. I travelled miles and was unchanged when I could have been here and transported, it is not the fault of the sun if the eye sees not its beauty.”
May she rest in peace x.

14.00 hrs 19th August 2026.
Randall’s Park Crematorium, Randall’s Road.Leatherhead.KT22 0AG.

No flowers please but a donation to St Catherine’s Hospice Crawley would be appreciated. Without their support Elisa would not have been able to fulfill her wish of passing away in my arms at home.

Elisa was a kind and fun-loving friend whom we have known since 1979 when our sons were at playschool.
We shared many happy times together, especially at Bexhill and Swanage (our second homes).
Our favourite places were the beach, National Trust properties and sometimes on the tennis court!
We will miss her greatly, and send our condolences to John and her family.

Elisa and I became Bridge partners even though she was much better than I was. She was always gracious, kind and humorous and we spent more time laughing than concentrating!
My condolences to John and all the family.

Auntie Elisa was always so wonderfully glamorous, kind, and full of warmth and humour. It brings great comfort knowing she was back at home where she wanted to be. We are thinking of you all and sending strength.

With love from Shaun, Sarah, Archie, and Isabelle.
