In loving memory of Michael 'Mike' Ernest Worsley who sadly passed away on 10th June 2026
It is with great sadness that we share the news that our Dad, Mike, has passed away.
You’ll all agree he was a remarkable man, a true legend. Dad lived life with an infectious optimism, endless humour and kindness in abundance. He loved his music, sport, friendships and conversation, and he was exceptionally talented at all four.
Michael, Micky-dub, Worz, Mr. W, Micky-Michael to Mum and Big D to us as kids, whatever you knew him as, everyone who met Mike loved him. He had a gift for finding the funny side of life, even when life wasn’t always particularly funny. Downright refusing to let his blindness dim his world.
Dad had an extraordinary zest for life. Whatever challenges came his way, he tackled them with steely determination, humour and an unwavering belief that life was there to be enjoyed.
He was the person you turned to when life was feeling difficult, and equally the person you wanted right beside you when life was good. He always seemed to know exactly what was needed: a wise word, a quiet ear, a terrible joke, or a pint. He gave his time, his friendship and his support so generously, and we know how many people’s lives are better for having known him.
Dad was also the most wonderful father to the three of us – Stef, Sal and Rozanne. He was endlessly supportive, endlessly proud, and always there when we needed him. Becoming Papa to his seven grandchildren brought him enormous joy, and they adored him right back. We will all miss him more than words can say.
At the heart of everything is his gorgeous wife, our Mum, Rosemary. Together they shared almost 60 years of marriage, building a life together filled with love, laughter, friendship and an awesome, unwavering mutual devotion.
We are so grateful to Marnie, Sean and Alex, whose love, support and strength have helped carry us through these past few months.
After a long illness, Dad died peacefully at home on 10th June, surrounded by his family, and with the wonderful support of St Elizabeth’s Hospice and Suffolk Community Nursing Team, whom we can’t thank enough.
We are heartbroken to lose him, but grateful for the countless laughs, memories and love he leaves behind.
Mike’s music may have stopped, but the tune he’s left behind in all of us never will.
Perhaps now Dad can see just how many lives he touched, and just how much he was loved.
Shine bright, Dad.
You were one of a kind 😎
