In loving memory of Jeanette Eileen Wood who sadly passed away on 7th June 2026

Jeanette was born and grew up in Essex. Jeanette had 3 sisters and 2 brothers who she has been close to all of her life.

Jeanette’s job was working in the Ilford film factory, which is where she met her husband to be, Martin. Jeanette and Martin, both aged 19 were at a Show which had been put on by the Factory, Jeanette was in a dance group and Martin was a guitar player in a band. At aged 22, Jeanette and Martin married and a year later had a daughter, Juliet. Jeanette and Martin had two more children Mark and Simon and Jeanette dedicated her life to looking after the family.

Jeanette and Martin moved to Kent and after some years bought a farm cottage with a large garden which they both landscaped and loved spending hours tending, including growing vegetables. Activities with the children were mostly outdoors, go-karting, swimming, skate boarding, cycling, shooting, making camps, foraging and playing in the woods. Martin’s music brought joy to friends and family, with sing songs and musical instruments at home.
In free time, when the children were young, Jeanette and Martin volunteered to host a group of elderly lonely people on a regular basis at their house for a buffet tea and a chat.
Jeanette helped collect and weigh chickens eggs at the local farm, when help was needed.
Both their families were big, and it was important to visit and host family. Throughout life, the most important thing has always been to spend time with family.

Jeanette taught all of the children to drive and to swim, even though swimming was not one of her strengths.
Once the children had left home and grandchildren came along Jeanette & Martin loved looking after the grandchildren while parents went to work, and often had the grandchildren to sleep over.

During Jeanette & Martin’s retirement they enjoyed an annual holiday in the New Forest, with all their children and grandchildren. They spent a week together in Lodges on a farm with a fishing lake, many happy memories were made walking in the forest, fishing and playing games. Jeanette would bake a large selection of cakes and they would host an afternoon of fun, tea and cake for the family.

Jeanette became a volunteer at the Oxfam shop in New Ash Green, where she worked for 18 years.

Jeanette’s hobbies were gardening as well as card making and she loved crossword puzzles, sudoku and jigsaw puzzles.

Jeanette was an extremely kind and thoughtful person and totally self-less, always putting everybody else first, always giving and not wanting to take.
