Edwin "Eddie" Bernard Dowdy (9 Sep 1945 - 21 May 2026)

Eddie was such a big part of some of my happiest childhood memories. Growing up at the Dowdys’ house was always so much fun – from cricket in the pool, Katie’s bar (with real beer pumps!), tasting games, playdough food plates, and hide and seek in the dark, with Eddie turning off the power so nobody could cheat! 😆

I’ll never forget him taking us to concerts, where he would sit outside with his paper while Katie and I had the time of our lives. I’ll also be forever grateful to Eddie and Elaine for taking me to America – a holiday I will never forget.

Eddie helped make my childhood such a happy one, and I’ll always be grateful to him, Elaine, Katie, and Emma for the wonderful memories. He will be remembered with great fondness and sadly missed.

Karl has lost a lovely uncle and Brian a caring brother

Sorry to hear of Eddies passing. We both have lots of memories of times spent with Elaine & Eddie and he always made us laugh. RIP xx

A great father in law, stubborn at times but a wonderful man. Will be missed

Hilarious, kind, never boring, clever, and a true friend I happen to be related to. I treasured every moment of Eddie’s company and will remember him always with laughter and affection. A great man.
