In loving memory of John Richard Coulon who sadly passed away on 3rd May 2026 aged 91.
A wonderful man who loved his wider family dearly and was known for his constant selflessness and dedication with amazing kindness to his nearest. He never complained and was always smiling. His family life involved simple fun days with activities like crazy golf, kite flying, exploring at low tide, fishing for tiddlers, walks in bluebell woods and sledging. He loved music and sports (and red wine😉) and had a Monty Python-esque sense of humour. A person interested in others and world affairs. A man who had excelled academically and consequently who was chosen for the most technical RAF training during his Nat.Service. He became an Electronic Engineer, missile guidance specialist, after his design for guiding the Seacat missile was adopted circa 1960. Throughout his career he worked on various top secret MOD defence projects (Seawolf, Stingray, TIALD). He married Brenda and had 3 children Johanne, Sarah and Richard and 4 grandchildren Alex, Danielle, Conor and Calum. A modest person with integrity, whose contribution to defence will never be widely known. He was infact a pacifist, his favourite song was 'Imagine' by John Lennon. His beautiful spirit will endure.
