From your family with love and fond memories

John could be many things. Grumpy, stubborn and argumentative were certainly traits he had but most of all John was generous. Generous with his knowledge built through a life time of study and engment at the top of his field. We will always remember John as one of the first to let JJ on the radio, for his help while all three of studied various parts of the licence but most of all we will remember John for being such a central part of MARTS by being a guiding, friendly and often cheery face RIP G6IVP SK

In memory of Uncle John, I always remember him arriving at our house with the first ever Set Top Box which then allowed us to watch the brand new channel: BBC2 on our TV. A real technical wizard.

John was a very friendly man,he enjoyed a good chat and a cuppa at our radio club. He will be sadly missed by everyone.

Many shared concert experiences at the BBC Proms at the Albert hall, Covent Garden and the Maidstone Symphony Orchestra.

John was very supportive of the MARTS club activities, he could often been seen in his Director’s Chair in a field, alongside a radio or two with friends and aerials.

He also had an astronomical telescope - was he looking for signs of Extraterrestrial life?

An interesting and interested man. Thanks for being my friend.

In memory of John G6IVP, a member of the Medway Amateur Receiving and Transmitting Society for 45 years. A longstanding and loyal supporter of the society serving in roles of Chairman, Treasurer and President over many of those years.
